Excerpts From My Books
Why does God allow this stuff to happen?  I have heard many answers to this question, I
am not sure I agree with any of them.  Some people say that everything goes past God’s
desk for approval before he ever allows it to happen to us.  Some say that bad things
happen to us because of our own sin.  Some things happen because of our own bad
choices, seeking our own will instead of Gods. I will leave it up to you to decide for
yourself.  There have been times in my life that I did not understand why things
happened. I have questioned God.  He would sometimes give me insight, sometimes he
gives me no answers, but he gives me peace over it.  I believe with all my heart that we
serve a good God. He is a God that cares about us and loves us more than we could ever
put into words.  I know without a doubt, that every time I have had to go through a hard
time, God was always there, all I had to do was cry out his name.  He has sat with me,
he has walked the floor with me, he has wiped the tears from my face, and he has
cradled me in his arms as I drifted off to sleep exhausted.

About a month after I was raped I tricked my parents by asking if I could go spend the
night at a friend’s house. I told my parents that we were just going to be staying at my
friend’s house and we were not going to be going out anywhere. That was a lie. My
parents agreed and dropped me off.  My friend and I had already made plans to be picked
up by my cousin and to go over to his house for a party. My cousin and I had always been
very close through the years of growing up, although, he was a few years older than me.
Whenever my family would visit his or when we had family reunions, he and I were
inseparable. When he picked us up he had some other guys in the car too. They decided
to smoke some marijuana. One of the guys lit a joint and started to pass it around. I was
the youngest person in the car.  When the joint was passed to me I did not want to
appear too babyish to be hanging around with the older crowd, so I took a hit. I think I
had tried smoking marijuana one time before this, but it had no real effect on me that I
had noticed. I passed it on and soon we arrived at the party. Everyone was drinking beer.
My cousin asked if I wanted one. I had tried beer before and really hated the taste, so I
asked him for a glass of water.  He brought me a glass of water.  We all sat around
talking and I drank my glass of water.  After a while I began to feel really weird.  I got up
and went to the bathroom. I splashed some cold water on my face thinking that would
help. I lifted my head up I looked in the mirror.  When I did this I say my face shatter
into many pieces and began to fall away, and then I saw a skeleton in the mirror. This
totally freaked me out. I went and found my friend, told her I wasn’t feeling well and I
was going to go outside for some fresh air.

When I went outside I realized I was alone. My cousin lived with his parents, which were
away for the weekend. Their house was out in the country. It was very dark and I was
scared, I began to panic. I looked down the street and saw some lights on at another
house. I did not know what was wrong with me but I felt I needed help, I wanted my
parents. I took off running down the street. I felt like I was running in slow motion like
the six million dollar man. When I got to the house I could hear dogs barking, but I ran
up the driveway to a door at the side of the house. I banged on the door frantically
yelling for help. This old woman that must have been over 100 years old yells at me
through the door, “What do you want?” I told her that I had been at my cousin’s house, I
was not feeling well, and I needed to call my parents to come and get me.  After telling
her this over and over she finally opened the door and let me in. As I stepped inside the
door and closed the screen door I saw two huge, very mean looking dogs standing on the
step just outside the door where I had just been standing. She told me this was very
strange because the dogs never let anyone enter the yard.  Now I knew how Daniel felt.
God held those mean vicious dogs at bay so I could get to that door and get help. God
had his hand on me even when I was stupid.

So what happens next?    You will have to purchase the book to find out.
This is an excerpt from my next book "Called According To His Purpose"
When I was  a young girl I took a creative writing class, I think I
must have been in the 7th or 8th grade.  I loved writing.  I
used my imagination and thought up these wild stories and
poems, I thought some of them were pretty good.  I remember
thinking when I grow up I am actually going to write a book about
a run away train and imagined for hours  how the story would
develop.  To me,  thinking back now it was all just a fantasy.  As I
went on to high school and got married I never thought about
being a writer again.  It was not until my experience with Anthony
that I ever even gave it a second thought.  But God had another
plan and one day a woman I was having a meeting with planted
the seed and because my mother believed in me and wouldn't let
that seed die I am now finishing my second book and getting it
ready to publish.  It amazing what God can do with a life.
